ABOUT "THE CLUB"

The Long Island Groupers, Dive Club, invites you to be part of something special. We have a wonderful group of people that make up our club and we're always looking for other special people to help make our club even better. If you love diving and want to dive with people who feel the same way...If you like the idea of going on club trips and having a fun time...Then you are at the right place.

As a member, you'll receive 20% off on rental equipment at Tiedemann's Diving Center and receive a discount on air fills.

We have beach dives and wreck dives throughout the Spring, Summer, and Fall. We have special weekend trips to places like the 1,000 Islands and Maine just to name a few planned for this Summer. We have group trips to great places like Bonaire planned for the Fall. As you can see, we have a lot to offer but most of all, as a member you get to go on club dives. All our dives are run by certified Instructors or Divemasters who know how to run a fun and safe dive. The club runs beach dives (free to members), quarry dives (you just pay the entrance fee) and wreck dives (we all chip in to pay for the dive boat - average cost about $60 for a two tank dive). These are organized dives at which the group leader will give you a thorough briefing, help set up dive teams, keep careful control of the dive area during your dive. He or she cannot dive with you but you could make arrangements for one of the club instructors to dive with you if you prefer.

One of our annual events that everyone loves is our BBQ and Treasure Hunt. Each year we give away thousands of dollars in prizes, donated by Jeanne & Ed Tiedemann, to help to raise money for a worthwhile charity. At our annual BBQ, we had over $3,500 in prizes to give away. The best part was everyone who made the dive won a prize. Just like our BBQ you can't lose as a member of the Long Island Groupers.

Our club is an active one. We have club activities year round and we do a variety of dives so that there is always something challenging and interesting. During the winter months we run trips to Florida and the Caribbean. Having fun is what diving is all about. Our club has fun.
